WHISTLER, B.C. - Canadian Olympic gold medallist Jon Montgomery showed off his skeleton skills and good-natured charm on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" on Friday.
Montgomery, an auctioneer and car salesman from Russell, Man., appeared in a pre-taped segment with a show correspondent in Whistler, B.C.
Comedienne Ali Wentworth caught up with the amiable athlete for a quick sliding lesson, where the redhead urged her to run alongslide a sled and leap onto it stomach first.
"Hee, haw," he yelled as she slid down the rink.
The easygoing Montgomery has become a popular Olympic star since his surprise victory last week in men's skeleton at the Vancouver 2010 Games.
Millions watched on television as he celebrated his win by strolling the streets of the Olympic Village with an entourage and a pitcher of beer, guzzling straight from the jug as he high-fived onlookers.
The Oprah segment ended with Montgomery and Wentworth hoisting a pint of brew.
